Exploring local knowledge for the creation of a game-based learning tool on participation. 17 December 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00

The context

Justurbanities is a European project born to promote civic participation in the most vulnerable urban neighborhoods, through innovative tools such as digital gaming and experiential training. Through simulated environments, educational activities and the direct involvement of communities, we accompany citizens, educators and public decision makers in the collective construction of fairer, more inclusive and resilient cities.

The objectives

The project aims to:

  • Foster active civic participation in disadvantaged urban contexts.
  • Involve educators, citizens and local stakeholders in co-design.
  • Develop a digital educational game focused on urban justice.
  • Create a replicable training curriculum in Europe.
  • Build a transnational platform for comparison and learning.

The activities

The planned activities are divided into different phases:

  1. Needs analysis in 7 European cities.
  2. Activation of local stakeholder groups.
  3. Workshops for co-designing the game and educational materials.
  4. Experimentation and validation with citizens, educators and public officials.
  5. Dissemination of results and activation of a European community.

Each phase is designed to enhance local knowledge and collective learning.

The results

At the end of the project the following will be available:

  • A digital game for urban civic education.
  • A multilingual training curriculum for educators and citizens.
  • Facilitation toolkit for workshops and participatory paths.
  • An online platform for training, exchange and networking.
  • 7 local stakeholder panels activated in the territories.
