On May 27–28, 2025, the city of Graz hosted an exciting Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) for the JUSTURBANITIES project. Organised by StadtLABOR, the two-day event brought together partners from across Europe for a vibrant exchange of experiences, needs, and future visions for fairer and more inclusive cities.
The first day kicked off with a warm welcome, followed by partner presentations of interview results gathered in local neighbourhoods. in the morning session we shared our first empathy map and further ones will be created during summer. In the afternoon, partners shared over 15 good practices from their territories: from community dining and participatory mapping to sustainable mobility and youth-led cultural initiatives. Together, we selected the most promising practices for further analysis in the coming months.
The day closed with a forward-looking discussion on the potential impact of the project: who we aim to reach, how we want to communicate, and what kind of transformation we want to achieve. After a full day of work, the group enjoyed a well-deserved sightseeing walk through Graz and a shared dinner on the iconic “Schlossberg” hill—strengthening the bonds within our team.
The second day focused on practical planning. Topics included project management, the upcoming LTTA in Berlin this June, and dissemination efforts. Each partner shared their work to promote the project both locally and online. The meeting wrapped up with a field visit to the Smart City neighbourhood revitalisation project in Graz.
With a mix of empathy, hands-on practices, and genuine collaboration, the Graz TPM marked another important milestone in our journey toward more just, inclusive, and resilient cities. Next stop: Berlin!
